Midtown is excited to feature Scenic Route Highway in our Vendor Spotlight this week. Jennifer's creations are truly one-of-a-kind! Opening a booth at Midtown has allowed this "stay-at-home mama" to have the family time she needs at home, yet allows her to provide for her family by being creative and doing what she loves. We love our vendors and we love sharing their wonderful stories with you!
Hello! My name is Jennifer Ross and I'm blessed to have a couple of great helpers- my husband, Jesse, along with our son Jett, who will be 2 years old in April. We have lived in Crosses (toward the pig trail if you haven't heard of the name) for 18 years and have been married for almost 19 years, after being high school sweethearts. During the time before Jett came along, I worked as a visual merchandiser for a large retail corporation, as a landscaper, an animal caregiver for the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, solder line worker and as a member of Process Control/QA for the Wal-Mart Optical Lab. Jesse is a veteran from the Marines and has the best work ethic of any man I know. He is currently an OTR truck driver, which provides us the ability for me to be a stay-at-home mom. Jesse helps me with projects and puts his own touch on things all the time.
We are teaching Jett that life skills and hard work do pay off and trying to make sure we all have fun along the way. Jett is at that age where he likes to mimic Momma & Daddy, so he now has his own set of tools on a workbench and an old paint brush to "help" Momma. We are excited as he's already showing signs of being as creative & expressive as we are, such a big personality in a small package!
Throughout all of my "jobs" earning a paycheck, I've always wanted to be able to earn that money by doing something that I love. Refinishing an old piece of furniture and bringing it back to life is just a fraction of what my creativity entails. I also have a love of photography, engraving, sewing and building custom pieces.
Since having Jett, all of that has grown into what is now called "Scenic Route." The name sums up where we live, how we live and the off-the-beaten path outlook we have on life. We enjoy our road trips, picking vintage/antiques, spending time together & making a future history lesson for Jett. We consider ourselves artists and especially enjoy designing our "outside of the box" custom pieces.
We chose Midtown because of the nudge Debbie gave by commenting on one of my refinished dressers. We had been mulling it over for quite some time, a bit nervous to get our feet wet, but knew we needed to get our creations in the public eye. Being a Midtown customer, I took note of the great customer service and good advertising. So here we are, just getting started (officially) and are very passionate about what we do and eager to be a success.
