Vendor Spotlight: Wildflower Studio Designs

Welcome to Wildflower Studio Designs - Vintage & Home! We're Leonard and Lisa and we live in Little Flock, which is a beautiful small community between Rogers and Pea Ridge. We've lived in this area (mostly in Rogers before Little Flock) for more than 25 years, and before that, we both graduated from JBU.

Leonard graduated with a Building Construction degree, with engineering and business minors, and Lisa graduated with a Home Economics degree, with minors in business and journalism. We both love to hunt for "the good stuff" at flea markets and sales, and that's what we like to bring to you in our booth at Midtown Mall. We love it when we go up to the front desk of a place to check out and they say "ooh, we didn't know that was here! That's cool!" NOW we can bring the "cool" to you!

The idea to have a booth came about at the end of 2015, when Lisa's regular job hours and salary were cut, and she needed to supplement her income. She wasn't able to just switch to a new full-time job, because she has a commitment to helping her Mom every morning at her assisted living center for a couple of hours. At the time of the cutback, we were finding great deals on some pieces that needed fixed up, or that could have added value by being upholstered in leather or vintage linens. So, we weren't sure of the outcome, but it is something that we felt led to try.

We chose the name Wildflower Studio Designs because we live on Wildflower Lane, and since February 2015, we've been in the process of building a home office/hobby building, which we call the studio. Lisa has worked from home for the last 11 years, and was running out of space, with her office in our laundry room and her sewing room in the guest room.

The studio is a work in progress…. we started with a Tuff Shed shell from Home Depot, and after having the porches added, we're doing all the work ourselves now, in our spare time, to save money. It has been fun to find architectural salvage to use to dress it up. We think that things from the past have a lot more charm and were built a lot better than some of the furniture, etc. that is mass-produced today. Plus, we know it is good for our planet to reuse and recycle!

When we decided to try a booth, we chose Midtown Mall because we thought their aesthetic fit with the things we hoped to put in our booth. Debbie and Michele work very hard to keep good vendors and to let people know about their store.

Our items are a mix of primitive/rustic, along with shabby chic items reupholstered with vintage linens, and also industrial items that Lisa has upholstered with real leather, to give them a "King Ranch" or "Russell's for Men" feeling.

Leonard also makes lamps out of various antique items such as old toys, kitchen appliances, fans, and other things.

We do custom orders, so if there's a piece that you've found, and you'd like to have it upholstered in a certain way, or something that could be made into a light, just let us know. Midtown has special order forms at the front desk that you can use.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks! We have several pieces that Lisa's going to begin working on that we're very excited about. There's a Mission-style oak love seat that will get upholstered in a soft turquoise leather, a 1930's-40's bed frame that will get some leather upholstery and an easy chair/fainting couch that will be reupholstered in vintage linens. We have a Facebook page under Wildflower Studio Designs - Vintage & Home, and you can 'like' us there, and sign up for notifications so you'll see when we post new pieces which are headed for the booth that might interest you!
